Doddridge Busingye

I like to think of myself as a pervert; my mind decontextualizes, then, I reconstruct. I see and experience things every day, but before I digest them, my mind distorts them to directions that I wish to view them in. I think in abstract but I love to manipulate my skill-set and the objects at my disposal present and communicate my ideas in the simplest way possible. The way I conceive my ideas usually determines my medium of output. The narratives that relate with the human figure are often conveyed in oil and acrylic paintings on canvas, where as those that remind me of objects we consume and use end up as sculptures and installation of these objects. My subjects of exploration vary from my personal experiences, gender and the sociopolitical ironies of life. Having grown up in Kampala, Uganda since the 1990’s, I have witnessed the rise of gender movements, urbanization and growth of multiparty politics in my country. These are the cores of my art production.
